Michael Ermann is a Psychoanalyst and specialist in Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy.
He is a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).
Since April 2009 in he is in a private office in Munich.

From 1985 to 2009 he was Professor for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Munich Ludwig Maximilian University. There he had the chair of the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Psychiatric University Hospital.

Born in 1943 in Stettin/Pomerania, grown up in Northern Germany,
Abitur (final school examen) in 1963 in Hamburg

Studies of the history of art and philosophy in Würzburg;
medical training at the Freiburg, Hamburg and Vienna universities.
State examination and doctorate (M.D.) in 1969 in Freiburg

1971 -- 76 Scientific and clinical activity at the Psychotherapeutic Center in Stuttgart,
psychoanalytic training

1976 -- 85 Senior physician of the psychosomatic clinic at the Central Institute for Mental Health (WHO cooperationg center) in Mannheim
1978 habilitation and 1980 chair in psychosomatic medicine and psychoanalysis
at the University of Heidelberg

Since 1985 professor at the Munich University.
1985 - 2009 Head of the Dept. of Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the Psychiatric University Hospital

Since 2009 private office for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine in Munich

Member of the board of the German Psychoanalytical Society (DPG) and the International Federation of Psychoanalytic Societies (IFPS)
Member of advisory boards and consultant in political and scientific organisations

Editor and Co-Editor of scientific journals, e.g. “International Forum of Psychoanalysis”

2008 Schwidder Award of the IFPS
